The house building is plugging along splendidly with major progress on the molding, the plumbing and counter tops.
Here's the back of Dan working on the counters between the refrigerator on the left, and the butcher block on the right. Dan's finishing the tile work as Perry is on a plane to Hollywood, CA, tomorrow for an annual SuperBowl party. Perry estimates that the temperature will be in the 70's and neither expected, nor received any sympathy from the rest of us.
And here's the opposite side of the kitchen. The sink and faucet are in as is the dishwasher on the right. We went with a Fisher and Paykel single drawer dishwasher (details here). We were sold on the small size, the customizable interior, the small water usage, and the matching cabinet doors that will be used. On top of all that, the sales guy said that during a conference they put a whole carrot cake in the dishwasher and by the time the meeting was over, the cake plate was clean and no one even heard the machine running. (He didn't say, however, that the meeting was to evaluate rock bands.)
The vanity in the guest bath is in place along with its faucet.
And the vanity and toilet are in place in the upstairs powder room/charging station.
You may have noticed how small the tank is on the toilet. Here's why. It's a dual flush with a button on the top of its tank.
One button, presumably the smaller one, is for (ahem) #1 and will use considerably less water, and the larger button is for larger deposits from my brothers. We have also tripled the size of the septic system in anticipation of their visits.
Patterns are developing on the exterior as well.
And critter tracks are evident on the river.
We may have some rather exciting news coming soon. Our builder has been discovered by various media outlets due to the opening of his office in Boulder Junction. And word has spread about our future home.
The local news outlet plans to do a feature and well as a super double secret trade mag. On top of all that a couple of the classes at Nicolet Technical College, where Ann works, will be visiting February 22. Various contributors to the construction will be there to discuss environmentally sound construction practices.
The Pith plans on being in attendance and nodding knowingly.
